AJGA Las Vegas Junior set for June 16-19For the 19th consecutive year, the American Junior Golf Association will be conducting one of its top-tier national junior golf events in Las Vegas. The AJGA Las Vegas Junior will be held at Angel Park Golf Club June 16-19. The 78-player field will be 54 holes of stroke play competition. The tournament field will be filled through the AJGA’s Performance Based Entry system, but numerous spots will be held for those participating in the Qualifier taking place at Angel Park Golf Club Sunday, June 15 at 7:30 a.m. For more information on participating in the tournament qualifier, contact the AJGA’s Player Services Department at (770) 868-4200. This event has a great deal of history and has seen some top college and professional golfers earn a victory here. LPGA Tour players Kellee Booth (1994), Cristie Kerr (1995) and Candy Hannemann (1996) were all victorious at this event. In the Boys Division, Trip Kuehne (1990) and Chris Riley (1992) both sat in the winner’s circle. In 2007, Ryan Sheffer of Tucson, Ariz., was able to claim victory after shooting a 10-under-par 203 tournament total. He is currently a freshman playing golf at Notre Dame. In the Girls Division, Sarah Salvo of Glendale, Calif., took home her second AJGA victory after recording a 10-over-par 223 tournament total.
