Winners Nick Becker (L) and Kevin Tassistro (R) Nick Becker and Kevin Tassistro, both Las Vegas residents, edged out the team of Kenny Ebalo and Eric Nilsson on the second sudden-death playoff hole to take top honors in the 2008 Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch at Angel Park Golf Club, a two-day competitive golf event held on July 20 and 21.  For their efforts, Becker, the professional on the team, earned $2,500 and Tassistro earned $750 in Angel Park gift certificates.

At the end of regulation play (two rounds of one best ball of two), both teams carded a 13-under-par 129 (Becker/Tassistro shot 64, 65 and Ebalo/Nilsson shot 63, 66).

"We were actually one shot out of the lead after the first day," said Becker. "Fortunately, we were able to stay pretty consistent and our 6-under, 65 on the second day was good enough to send us into a playoff - eventually prevailing with a birdie on the second hole."

"The Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch had another exciting finish - a two-hole sudden-death playoff - it's obvious why this event is quickly becoming a favorite among competitive golfers in and around Las Vegas," said Kris Strauss, fellow competitor and director of marketing for OB Sports Golf Management. "We appreciate all of the support from the sponsors: Cleveland Golf, The Rio Hotel and Casino, VegasGolfer, Taylored Golf Car Systems, Grey Goose and Southern Wine and Spirits."

Sixty-two teams competed for cash, gift certificates and skins throughout the two-day event. Following the first round of play, the top 15 teams that opted into the Derby received an opportunity to compete in a shoot-out on Angel Park's famed Cloud Nine Short Course.  A fun-filled "event within the event," the team of Jeff Hood and Scott Carlyle took top honors.

The event title sponsor is Cleveland Golf. For more information on Cleveland Golf visit www.clevelandgolf.com. VegasGolfer and Grey Goose are sponsors of the infamous Cloud Nine Derby. Taylored Golf Car Systems (specializing in Tournament Fleet Rental and Golf Car Fleet Maintenance and Consulting) is the Reception Sponsor and Southern Wine and Spirits is a Supporting Sponsor of the event.
