Golf World Readers' Choice AwardsIf you need further evidence that Las Vegas has become a player among golf vacation destinations, consider this latest ranking of golf courses from a renowned industry publication. In the 2009 Golf World Readers' Choice Awards, five Las Vegas golf courses were listed among the top 50; that's 10 percent.

With its signature island green, par-3, Bali Hai Golf Club is one of the five Las Vegas golf facilities to make the list. It's also one of three courses owned and operated by Walters Golf to be included in the top 50. Royal Links Golf Club, another Walters Golf property, came in at No. 13, and Desert Pines Golf Club is ranked 50th. TPC Las Vegas was listed at No. 27, while Bear's Best Golf Club, a compilation of the best holes from Jack Nicklaus' courses around the world, finished 47th

Natalie Gulbis Day At Aliante Golf Club To Benefit The Fisher House Print E-mail

Aliante Golf ClubLPGA star and Las Vegas resident, Natalie Gulbis, will tee it up on December 13, 2008 at Aliante Golf Club in an event to benefit the Fisher House FisherHouse.org, a not-for-profit organization that supports United States military families. Gulbis will be available at the club from 9 am to 10 am for an informal meet-and-greet/autograph signing. After that, she'll set up on one of the par 3s to compete against the day's golfers in a closest-to-the-pin contest.

Data from the National Golf Foundation (NGF) shows that the handicaps for US amateur golfers is not improving. Another survey results revealed that only 12% of golfers took a lesson during the past year and only 5% took a series (or more) of lessons. Can you see the pattern? The only group of golfers, who will show improvement each year, are those who take regular lessons from a qualified instructor.

If you truly want to improve your golf game, you will need to make commitment, time and money, to take lessons from the best instructor that you can afford. Top instructors will work on your basic fundamentals and develop a plan for practicing that will lead to improvement.

One of the first things that a good instructor will do is make sure your set-up fundamentals are sound. Everyone will be a little different, but here are some guidelines that may help you.
